Adalynn’s Mighty Story
On March 31st, Addy’s family went to the ER thinking she was simply constipated. X-rays showed that wasn’t the case, so the team ordered bloodwork—and the results changed everything. Addy’s hemoglobin was only 3.2, a critically low level. She immediately needed five blood transfusions and was transported to a children’s hospital for urgent care.
Once there, Addy was admitted to the PICU so doctors could stabilize her blood counts and get her levels to a safer range. In those early hours and days, her family was told there were several possible explanations—but the team needed answers. A bone marrow biopsy was performed, and two days later, Addy received the diagnosis: cancer.
From that moment on, everything moved quickly. Addy underwent surgery to have a port placed, and she began chemotherapy the very next day. She spent nearly nine days in the hospital during that initial stretch, and since her diagnosis, she has had three more hospital stays, each lasting at least six days. Addy has also needed two additional transfusions since starting treatment.
This is the road Addy and her family are walking right now—one filled with long hospital days, sudden changes, and more strength than anyone should ever have to carry. And through it all, we’re standing with them, believing for healing, and surrounding them with support every step of the way. 💛🎗️
What Makes Addy Mighty 💛🎗️
What makes Addy mighty is the strength she’s shown through so many trials since her diagnosis—things no child should ever have to face.
There have been days when she couldn’t walk on her own or climb the stairs. Days when she couldn’t even play with her toys because she felt so nauseated and sick from chemotherapy. She’s also had to endure the heartbreak of losing her beautiful curly hair, another piece of childhood cancer tries to take.
Addy has been through countless lumbar punctures and port accesses, along with weekly—sometimes even daily—clinic appointments. She’s spent far too much time away from home, away from her routine, and away from her family—especially her siblings.
Cancer takes so much from such innocent children. But Addy continues to fight with courage, and that is exactly what makes her mighty. 💛🎗️
