Colter’s Mighty Story

Just one week before his first birthday, Colter’s life and the life of his entire family changed in an instant.

What started as 36 hours of vomiting led his parents to take him to the emergency room. Doctors quickly recognized something wasn’t right and immediately transferred him to a children’s hospital. There, Colter received blood products and underwent numerous tests, but frustratingly, everything initially appeared normal.

Still searching for answers, his family traveled to a larger children’s hospital on October 16, 2025, where doctors performed a bone marrow biopsy. Two days later, they received a call no parent ever expects they needed to return to the hospital immediately and prepare for a long stay. At that moment, the family still didn’t know why.

The following day, the devastating diagnosis came: Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).

In an instant, Colter’s world shifted from birthday celebrations and baby milestones to hospital rooms, treatment plans, and unimaginable uncertainty.

Since that day, Colter has shown incredible strength. He has bravely endured three rounds of chemotherapy and, in February 2026, underwent a bone marrow transplant a huge step in his fight against cancer.

In the midst of this incredibly difficult journey, the family also received unexpected news that brought a small light during a dark season Colter is going to be a big brother.

But the road has not been easy. The children’s hospital caring for Colter is on the other side of the state, requiring constant travel and long hospital stays. Since October, Colter’s dad has largely been unable to work so the family can remain by his side throughout treatment.

Today, Colter is recovering, but recovery after transplant is a long and challenging road. Through it all, this little warrior continues to fight with a strength far greater than his size.

Stories like Colter’s remind us just how mighty these children and their families truly are.

What Makes Colter Mighty 💛🎗️

Colter has been mighty from the very beginning. Before he was even born, Colter faced incredible odds. He was diagnosed with end-stage fetal heart failure, along with severe hydrops, severe anemia, and other life-threatening complications. Doctors gave him only a 5% chance of survival.

But Colter had other plans. From his very first moments, he proved that his story would be one of strength, resilience, and determination. Against the odds, Colter fought his way into the world and survived. That same strength continues to shine today as he faces the challenges of childhood cancer with courage beyond his years.
