Frankie’s Mighty Story
Frankie was diagnosed with Stage III Wilms tumor on May 31, 2025—just two days after she finished her first year of preschool. Only four days later, she underwent surgery to remove a 2-pound, 15-centimeter tumor that had taken over her abdominal cavity. The tumor caused dangerously high blood pressure and led to several other serious physical complications.
In July 2025, genetic testing on Frankie’s tumor revealed a more aggressive variation of cancer cells. As a result, her medical team moved her to the most intensive chemotherapy regimen for this type of cancer, and her treatment plan was extended.
Frankie has now completed six rounds of radiation and nine cycles of chemotherapy. She has two cycles remaining and is expected to finish treatment this spring. While reaching the end of treatment is a major milestone, it will not be the end of Frankie’s journey. Due to the intensity of the lifesaving chemotherapy she has received—and the tumor’s unfavorable genetics—Frankie may face long-term health effects and will have a higher risk of relapse during the first two years following treatment.
What Makes Frankie Mighty
Frankie has shown everyone around her what true strength and optimism look like—especially in the toughest moments. She has never complained about treatment, and she often gets excited to go to the hospital for chemotherapy, hospital stays, and testing because she genuinely loves her care team. Frankie has worked hard to overcome her fear of having her port accessed, and even when she feels nervous, she continues to face each step with incredible bravery. Our lives are forever changed by her strength, resilience, and courageous spirit.
