One day, Raul mentioned arm pain—something that could have easily been brushed off as minor. But when his family brought him to the ER at 8:00 AM, their lives changed within hours. By 11:30 AM, they were told Raul had a tumor in his upper right humerus.
From that moment on, everything moved fast. Within a week, Raul went through a PET scan, MRI, X-rays, a bone biopsy, and port placement. A few weeks later, his family received the diagnosis: Ewing sarcoma.
They are only about two months into this journey, and Raul is already facing an intense treatment schedule:
5-day hospital chemotherapy every 2 weeks
1-day hospital chemotherapy
In-clinic chemotherapy
Raul is expected to need bone replacement surgery in February/early March. He also has another scan scheduled for early February to determine whether the tumor has shrunk enough to move forward with surgery. In just these early weeks, Raul and his family have already endured about seven hospital stays—a powerful reminder of how quickly childhood cancer can turn everyday life upside down.
What makes Raul mighty
Even in the middle of hard days and long hospital visits, Raul continues to show what it means to be mighty. His family describes him as the strongest person they know—throughout treatment, he has never cried, screamed, or fought against what the doctors needed to do to help him heal. Raul meets each step with courage and an incredible outlook—always positive, never negative.
At Mighty Like Myles Foundation, we’re honored to share Raul’s journey and help surround his family with support, encouragement, and hope. 💛🎗️
